2008-2009 Supply Lists for Grades K-5
From learning the letter ‘A’ to preparing for adolescence, elementary students at Lakeland Christian School benefit from a variety of educational activities as they learn the foundations that will prepare them for the future.
Our students learn the basics of math and language arts, as well as science, Bible, computers, art, music, physical education, and library skills. These subject areas provide students with a well-rounded education designed to promote the essential components of child development.
The language arts curriculum, which balances literature and phonics, teaches our students to enjoy reading. The Accelerated Reader program also encourages the students to read independently. Our math curriculum focuses on the mastery of math skills, understanding of important concepts, and the integration of problem solving.
Younger elementary students are taught using a variety of methods such as learning centers, guest speakers, field trips and special programs such as Grandparents Day and Thanksgiving Day programs. Parental involvement is encouraged.
Students in the upper elementary grades are taught by a team of teachers. These grades benefit from a number of special activities such as the ACSI Math Olympics, ACSI Science Fair and ACSI Spelling Bee. Students also attend several field trips throughout the year and may participate in several musical opportunities such as band, chorus, and chimes.
Elementary students are tested annually using the Stanford Achievement Test, and LCS students consistently score at or above the national norm on these standardized tests.
