Why a Christian Education?
As you make decisions regarding the education of your children, remember that these decisions are among the most important and influential ones that you will make as a parent. During their school years, your children will not only be learning math, English and science; they will be forming friendships, values and worldviews. That is why a Christian education is so important. We want our students to learn to view every aspect of life and learning from a biblical perspective.
At Lakeland Christian School, our mission is to serve as an extension of the Christian home and as a partner with the local, evangelical church in the Christian education of children. Through biblical integration in the classroom, weekly chapel time and the influence of our faculty and staff, the Christian values that our students learn at home can be reinforced and internalized by the time they walk across the stage and receive their diplomas.
Admissions Standards
Our admissions standards reflect our commitment to serve as a partner with the home and the local church in the Christian education of our students. We ask that the following admissions standards are met by our students and their families:
- Shared Goals: LCS is most effective when working with families who share our commitments. Priority is given to these families during the admissions process.
- Cooperative Spirit: Each family and each student admitted to Lakeland Christian School is expected to display a cooperative spirit. We only admit students who want to attend LCS. The application and interview process, along with teacher and pastoral references, are used to determine whether a student is suitable for admission. All parents and students should read the Family Handbook (available in the main office) for a description of our standards and expectations.
- Academic Record: An applicant's academic record must reflect that the student is adequately prepared for the instructional program at Lakeland Christian School.
- Disciplinary Record: Lakeland Christian School does not admit students who have a history of disciplinary problems. Students who have been expelled from other schools will not be admitted.
- Kindergarten and First Grade : Students in kindergarten and first grade must meet the age and maturity standards of Lakeland Christian School. Admissions screening will be done by the Kindergarten and First Grade teachers. All immunizations and the required physical examination must be documented prior to final admission.

Enrollment Procedures
Choosing a school for your child is a very important decision. Once you have decided that LCS is right for your child, there are six steps in the enrollment process:
- Pick up a Family Information Sheet, Pastoral Reference Form, Teacher Reference Form, and an Enrollment Card for each child.
- Return the Family Information Sheet and Enrollment Card to the Registrar, along with the registration fee. We also need a copy of the student's most recent report card and the most recent achievement test scores.
- The Teacher Reference Form and Pastoral Reference Form should be returned directly to the school by the teacher and pastor providing the references.
- Once all of the paperwork has been received, we will contact you to schedule an admissions interview.
- After the interview, the Admissions Committee will review your child's application and interview information. If the grade your student will enter is full, the application will remain in the waiting pool.
- You will be notified in writing of the Admissions Committee's decision.
Financial Commitment
We know that Christian education is a significant financial commitment and a sacrifice for many families. For this reason, we do our best to keep costs as low as possible. Because tuition does not cover all of the operational expenses of the school, financial gifts are sought on an annual basis. The Viking Fund annual giving program exists to help provide items and programs that are not funded through tuition.
Financial Aid
Some financial aid is available to our students. If you have questions regarding the qualifications for receiving this aid, please contact the Business Office at LCS for more information.
Non-Discrimination Policy
Lakeland Christian School does not discriminate on the basis of race, national, or ethnic origin in its admissions policies or in the administration of its programs.
