Application Process and Checklist

We appreciate your interest in applying to Lakeland Christian School. If you have questions at any time during the application process, please contact the admissions office at 863.688.2771. To apply, please visit www.lcsonline.org/admissions. All applications must be submitted online.

Your child’s application is considered complete and ready to process when the school has received the following items. The Admissions Office must receive these documents before testing or interviews will be scheduled:

For K4 or K5 Students:

*Pastor and Teacher Reference Forms should be completed by those individuals and returned directly to the school by mail or fax.

 

For 1st – 12th Grade Students:

  • Application Fee ($150, non-refundable)
  • Completed Online Application
  • Copy of certified birth certificate
  • Most recent standardized test results
  • Previous report cards (last two years, must include current school year)
  • Completed transcript (for students entering grades 11 or 12)
  • IEP or 504 Plan, if applicable
  • Pastor Reference Form
  • Teacher Reference (Grades 1-12)

For Students with a current Individual Education Plan (IEP) or 504 Accommodation Plan:

Initial review of documentation is required to determine academic eligibility before you begin the application process.  The following information is necessary to assess  suitability of our program for the needs of your child.  Please remit the requested documentation to the Admission office for review from the Special Programs Director, Pam Szydlowski.

  • Teacher Reference Form (This must be completed by someone with direct ESE experience with your child.)
  • Copy of current IEP (Individual Education Plan), 504 Accommodation Plan and initial psychological report
  • Copy of your child’s most recent report card
  • Copy of results from most recent school-wide standardized test (if child was required to participate)
  • $50, non-refundable processing fee per child (An additional $100 testing fee will be required if further evaluation by LCS personnel is necessary.)

The Application Process continues as outlined below:

Testing: Entrance testing is administered as determined by the principal.  There are no additional fees for testing (with the exception of additional special education admissions testing, if required).  All K4 and K5 students will be screened.

Interview: After you have submitted the above items, you will be contacted by the school’s registrar to schedule a parent interview with the principal.  In grades 6-12 a student interview is also required.  You will be asked to share about your personal faith and current level of involvement in your church.  The principal will briefly explain the purpose of Christian education, provide an overview of our program, and give you time to ask whatever questions you may have concerning the school.  Parents will also meet with the Business Office to discuss financial arrangements.

Admissions Committee: After completion of all of the above, your application will be sent to our Admissions Committee.  You will be notified in writing as to your child’s acceptance.  If your child meets the admissions requirements but there are no spaces currently available in that grade, you will be given an opportunity to keep your application active in the waiting pool.

 

Enrollment: With your acceptance letter you will be sent forms which must be completed and returned, with applicable fees, to the Admissions Office before your child is officially enrolled.  At least one parent must attend an orientation meeting with the Headmaster prior to the student attending class.  Meetings will be scheduled monthly.  Dates and times will be included in the acceptance letter.
