Mrs. Kay Henry - Teacher

I have been an educator for 24 years, the last nine of which have been at LCS teaching early childhood education. The best part of my job is teaching reading to kindergarteners. My husband, Rex, and I are committed to LCS because we understand the importance of a strong Christian foundation. Our two daughters, Lauren and Carrie, both graduated from Lakeland Christian and are now in graduate school studying law and social work, respectively. In allowing God to utilize my teaching abilities wherever He leads, I’ve taught in a plethora of teaching environments, including a migrant community and a carnival. This background allows me to provide the best possible teaching strategies so that God’s wisdom and my experience catalyze producing your child’s growth and achievement.

Mrs. Karen Latimer - Teacher

I have been teaching at Lakeland Christian School for five years. I am an Auburn University graduate and come from a family of educators who laid a foundation for me to see the joy experienced when teaching students. I have been married to Robert for 15 years, and we have two children, Lauren and Anna, who attend LCS. I feel privileged to be able to teach here because it is a school that puts Christ as the center of their mission in teaching young children. Teaching K5 here is wonderful for many reasons. It is so special to work in an environment that feels like family where we can partner with parents and work as a team with other teachers. I also love that God has called me into this profession to help kindergarteners begin to learn how much Jesus loves them and has a special plan for their lives. It is an amazing experience to watch young children’s “light bulbs” turn on as they begin to read and connect experiences to their own life. Their sense of humor and their childlike faith always puts a smile on my face as I teach them. Teaching kindergarten gives me a chance to touch lives by laying a foundation for lifelong learning.
