Football
Under the leadership of head coach Bobby Dan McGlohorn, the Viking Varsity Football team finished the 2009 season with a 5-4 record.
Volleyball
The Lady Vikes earned their fifth consecutive District Champsionship title and a 12-8 record with head coach Allie Henderson in charge.
Cross Country
From August through November, the cross country teams run hundreds of miles in practice and in meets. These runners, always looking to improve their personal times, remember the importance of team unity as they compete throughout the season. The girls' team consistently rank high in the city, county, district and regional tournaments. In 2009, the girls' team earned a ninth place State finish. The boys' team earned 6th place in the State 1A Finals.
Golf
Girls - Under the leadership of coach David Joyner, the girls' golf team finished third in the District and seventh in the Regional Tournament.
Boys - With head coach Stan McMahan in charge, the boys' golf team earned a third place District finish and an eighth place finish in Regionals.
Swimming/Diving
With a schedule comprising some of the largest public schools in Polk County, the swim and dive team consistently proves that it can compete against the best swimmers - and win. The girls' team took a 2nd place finish in the District tournament before finishing 8th in the Regional in 2009. The boys' team claimed 3rd place at the District meet and 15th in the Regional Tournament.
Cheerleading
Anyone who doubts that cheerleading is a sport should watch the LCS cheerleaders as they cheer on the football team. These girls combine strength, coordination, and athleticism with cheerfulness and school spirit.
