We are grateful for funding from the American Institute of Chemical Engineers that enabled sixth grade students to build and test solar cars.  This was an exciting and engaging project that gave many students their first opportunity to follow the engineering process through building and testing a model.

In addition to solar cars, students created projects that showcased a range of solar technologies.  Elementary students were invited to visit the middle school “hands-on children’s museum” and to race solar cars with their middle school science buddies.

Students were also exposed to the wide range of careers available in engineering and the importance of engineers to society.
