Lakeland Christian School
One of the core values of LCS is the belief that we are partnering with parents in the Christian education of their children. We believe that mutual respect, communication and involvement by all partners is essential for success of our mission.LCS is a school. We believe that being a Christian school and being a top-flight academic institution should not be mutually exclusive. On the contrary, we take the mandate of Colossians 3:23 that calls us to strive to be the best. We provide a variety of rigorous, engaging, academic and co-curricular activities that enable students to identify and express the full range of their unique gifts and abilities.WHAT LED YOU TO LAKELAND CHRISTIAN SCHOOL?
I previously worked at both Christian and public schools in other parts of Florida. When my husband and I moved to the Lakeland area I had a desire to get back into a school where Christ was the center of not just the education provided to students, but the center of decision making and relationship formation. Plus, the way LCS approaches Exceptional Student Education/Special Programs is much more in line with what I believe students need and deserve.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING TO TEACH IN YOUR CLASS?
One fun thing about SP is that it is never boring because I get to be a resource for almost every subject. The uniqueness of SP at LCS and my favorite part is that our class allows for trust and authentic relationships to build over multiple years so that while students are receiving academic assistance they are also learning “life lessons” and executive functioning skills that they can translate outside the classroom for success.
WHAT IS ONE FUN FACT THAT MOST PEOPLE DON’T KNOW ABOUT YOU?
An interesting fact about me is that when I was in college people thought America was my real name, but I just went by Amy for short.
