Lakeland Christian School
One of the core values of LCS is the belief that we are partnering with parents in the Christian education of their children. We believe that mutual respect, communication and involvement by all partners is essential for success of our mission.LCS is a school. We believe that being a Christian school and being a top-flight academic institution should not be mutually exclusive. On the contrary, we take the mandate of Colossians 3:23 that calls us to strive to be the best. We provide a variety of rigorous, engaging, academic and co-curricular activities that enable students to identify and express the full range of their unique gifts and abilities.WHAT LED YOU TO LAKELAND CHRISTIAN SCHOOL?
I always felt a call to Christian education. I had been living in Lakeland for many years and would pass the school very often. One summer day while doing construction repairs at a nearby house, it was discovered through conversation that the owner was a teacher here at LCS. I informed that teacher that I was also a PE teacher and just did carpentry work as a side job in the summer. She informed there was an opening here for a PE teacher so I applied and here we are 20 years later.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING TO TEACH IN YOUR CLASS?
“Smashball” and “Badminton” units are some of my favorites!
WHAT IS ONE FUN FACT THAT MOST PEOPLE DON’T KNOW ABOUT YOU?
Even though my name is Boatwright it seems strange that I have broken down while on a boat in many different bodies of water.
- Lost a motor off the back of a boat in a lake in Winter Haven
- Broke down 30 miles out in the Atlantic Ocean
- Broke down 30 miles out in the Gulf of Mexico
- Broke down in the Caribbean Sea on a rented boat
Maybe “Boat-wrong” would be a more fitting name?
