Lakeland Christian School

One of the core values of LCS is the belief that we are partnering with parents in the Christian education of their children. We believe that mutual respect, communication and involvement by all partners is essential for success of our mission.LCS is a school. We believe that being a Christian school and being a top-flight academic institution should not be mutually exclusive. On the contrary, we take the mandate of Colossians 3:23 that calls us to strive to be the best. We provide a variety of rigorous, engaging, academic and co-curricular activities that enable students to identify and express the full range of their unique gifts and abilities.

WHAT LED YOU TO LAKELAND CHRISTIAN SCHOOL?

Derek Keenan (former Headmaster) was my Sunday School teacher.  Other friends had their children attending here so we enrolled our oldest son and were pleased.  Several years later the band was growing to the point that a second band director was needed, so I started teaching here part time.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING TO TEACH IN YOUR CLASS?

I love to teach how to create music from the little black dots on the page, not just playing notes and rhythms.

WHAT IS ONE FUN FACT THAT MOST PEOPLE DON’T KNOW ABOUT YOU?

I started playing flute in 5th grade and still play now at church as well as in two community bands.  At Christmas when my sons come home, I play Christmas carols with my family.  My husband, 4 sons, and one daughter-in-law still play their instruments even though they work in accounting, IT, and engineering.
