Lakeland Christian SchoolOne of the core values of LCS is the belief that we are partnering with parents in the Christian education of their children. We believe that mutual respect, communication and involvement by all partners is essential for success of our mission.LCS is a school. We believe that being a Christian school and being a top-flight academic institution should not be mutually exclusive. On the contrary, we take the mandate of Colossians 3:23 that calls us to strive to be the best. We provide a variety of rigorous, engaging, academic and co-curricular activities that enable students to identify and express the full range of their unique gifts and abilities.
WHAT LED YOU TO LAKELAND CHRISTIAN SCHOOL?
This past June, after teaching Kinders through Second Grade for 17 years in Polk County Schools (sixteen years at Cleveland Court Elementary), I retired from full-time teaching. My two daughters, Kristen and Kaitlin, attended LCS for two years, and I was drawn to the school after our association with the staff and students.
As I sought the Lord’s will for my next life adventure, I was again drawn to LCS and applied for a paraprofessional position. During my interview, Mrs. O’Byrne led us in prayer, asking for God’s will to be revealed. I was thrilled when offered the position to assist in kindergarten.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING TO DO IN YOUR LCS JOB?
My favorite thing about my job at LCS is going to chapel with our students. I love seeing them worship through singing. An extra sweet bonus is hearing their prayer requests during class prayer time! I especially enjoy their proud grins when they lose their first tooth and their excitement about learning.
WHAT MAKES LAKELAND SPECIAL?
I love that Lakeland is not too big or too small and nestled between Tampa and Orlando. Spending time with my three grandchildren, ages one, four, and six years old, is my favorite thing to do. We love to spend a day together at Disney World!
