Lakeland Christian SchoolOne of the core values of LCS is the belief that we are partnering with parents in the Christian education of their children. We believe that mutual respect, communication and involvement by all partners is essential for success of our mission.LCS is a school. We believe that being a Christian school and being a top-flight academic institution should not be mutually exclusive. On the contrary, we take the mandate of Colossians 3:23 that calls us to strive to be the best. We provide a variety of rigorous, engaging, academic and co-curricular activities that enable students to identify and express the full range of their unique gifts and abilities.
WHAT LED YOU TO LAKELAND CHRISTIAN SCHOOL?
I am an LCS “lifer.” I started Kindergarten at LCS in 2004 and graduated with the class of 2017. In my Junior year of high school, my AP Lang and Comp teacher invited me to help out at after-school writing workshops in her classroom. While helping peers with their essays, I knew then that I wanted to be an English teacher and that I wanted to come back to teach at Lakeland Christian. LCS was such a big part of my life growing up, and coming back as a teacher is an answer to so many prayers.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING TO DO IN YOUR LCS JOB?
The biggest thing I remember about my time as a student at LCS is the relationships I formed with my teachers. They valued me not just as a learner but as a person. I never doubted that I was cared for by the faculty and staff at LCS. As a teacher, the sweetest part of my job is making those same connections with my students and letting them know that they are valued and loved in my classroom.
WHAT MAKES LAKELAND SPECIAL?
My twin sister and I love to go to the Saturday morning Farmers’ Market in Downtown Lakeland. I think it captures the small-town feel Lakeland has, despite how fast it grows.
