Lakeland Christian School

One of the core values of LCS is the belief that we are partnering with parents in the Christian education of their children. We believe that mutual respect, communication and involvement by all partners is essential for success of our mission.LCS is a school. We believe that being a Christian school and being a top-flight academic institution should not be mutually exclusive. On the contrary, we take the mandate of Colossians 3:23 that calls us to strive to be the best. We provide a variety of rigorous, engaging, academic and co-curricular activities that enable students to identify and express the full range of their unique gifts and abilities.

WHAT LED YOU TO LAKELAND CHRISTIAN SCHOOL?

I graduated from LCS in 2001 with Dr. Sligh’s son, Matt, and my predecessor, John Douglass’s son, Dustin. I maintained connections with many from LCS over the years and was contacted by Dr. Sligh about the opportunity to come back to the place that made a significant impact on my life during some of the most formative years. As these discussions were happening, I was conferring with a man named Dave Curry regarding how he allocates his time, talent, and treasures. He explained his framework for giving and how he was focused on investing in the next generation through Christian youth initiatives. This resonated deeply with me and solidified my decision to join LCS. It has been wonderful to come back and work in a place investing in the next generation of youth who are making an impact for the Kingdom!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING TO DO IN YOUR LCS JOB?

My favorite thing about my job at LCS is the people I get to work with daily. It is gratifying working with like-minded believers motivated by the mission of LCS. Working at a place that incorporates prayer into every aspect of the organization is life-changing. It helps maintain the perspective that we are working for the glory of our Savior, Jesus, and that it is not of ourselves but what He has done through us and His faithfulness to this School that we can have such influence on the next generation.

WHAT MAKES LAKELAND SPECIAL?

Lakeland maintains a small-town feel and community while having big-city access.  Lakeland has a generous community where caring for others is celebrated. It provides opportunities for growth with mentors who are willing to come alongside you. My favorite activity in Lakeland is golfing
