WHAT LED YOU TO LAKELAND CHRISTIAN SCHOOL?

I heard about the teaching opportunity at LCS through a friend. At the time, I had been teaching through Florida Virtual (for 5 years) and my daughter Kennis would be starting school soon. I wanted to be near my daughter and going back to teach at a pubic school (what I previously did, for 12 years) did not excite me. After lots of prayer and consideration, Kennis and I decided to join the LCS family! And we’re so glad we did!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING TO TEACH IN YOUR CLASS?

I like teaching my students the practical application of science in their everyday lives. Science can seem like a boring subject at times, till you observe it all around you in fascinating ways! I show my students how the health of soil determines the outcome of the health of their food. I also enjoy grabbing my students’ attention with hands on activities (like dissecting things) and grossing them out (by bringing in pig intestines or teaching about face mites).

WHAT ARE SOME FUN FACTS THAT MOST PEOPLE DON’T KNOW ABOUT YOU? 

A few fun facts about me:

  • I’m a seventh generation native Floridian
  • I am the oldest of 4 girls
  • I’m an avid tea drinker (and often prefer it over coffee!)
  • I enjoy outdoor sports such as, surfing, fishing and hiking
