Leadership
Each team is led by a Godly coach who values the development of the whole person. Through rigorous training, practice, and team devotions, coaches work with every player to help train them up in the way he or she should go (Prov 22:6).
Class of 2014 - Florida International University
“LCS as a whole teaches you a lot about yourself and establishes a foundation that you’ll always fall back on when navigating this life. It’s more than just the school - it’s the faculty, it’s the coaches, it’s those individuals that take on the job of being a role model to our athletes and to all of our students…that make me proud to be a Lakeland Christian Viking!”
Class of 2019 - UF Cheer
“LCS was more than just a school for me. LCS prepared me and equipped me for life beyond high school academically, physically, and spiritually. I am thankful to have been surrounded my supportive teachers and coaches who pushed me to tap into my potential as a cheerleader as well as to lean on the plan God had in place for me! I would not be the confident Christian and cheerleader without the influence of Lakeland Christian!”
Class of 2019 - Clemson University
“Off the field, I grew as a leader. I can be that type of guy that can get in your face and be loud, but I learned at LCS that I can be louder with my words and setting example that way.”
Class of 2022 - Air Force Academy
“At LCS, I grew most as a leader. I’m naturally very quiet and introverted, but LCS gave me lots of opportunities to grow and be a strong communicator. Whether as captain of the soccer team, as a camp counselor, or as class treasurer, I was put in situations where other people looked to me for guidance. All these opportunities increased my confidence and expanded my ability to communicate with others.”
Class of 2018 - Atlanta Braves
“Lakeland Christian played a crucial role in my development not only as an athlete and young man, but, more importantly, as a follower of Christ. I was able to learn more about Gods word every day both in the classroom and after school on the basketball court and baseball field where I was surrounded by other followers of Christ. Being able to play varsity sports at a younger age provided me with a wealth of understanding of what I may be facing when journeying to play baseball in college and later on as a professional. Above all, the most valuable thing I learned through sports at Lakeland Christian is that regardless of the outcome, using my talents to further Christs kingdom is the true aspiration."
Class of 2019 - University of Tampa
“Even though Lakeland Christian School was all I had ever known my entire life up until college (since I was a “lifer”), I still felt more than prepared to enter the “real world” after graduating in 2019, which for me was college at The University of Memphis. Life as a student-athlete is overwhelming, but I truly think the hard class load I had at LCS mixed with the business of high school sports (softball and weightlifting) prepared me to manage my time well as a D1 student-athlete. I still feel like college is easier, academically and athletically, than my years were at LCS, which I am so grateful for because it allowed me to excel and grow while others who may have had a easier high school experiences struggled to adapt to college life. Coach Wilsman, my LCS varsity softball coach from 7th to 12th grade, still keeps in touch with me and my college games, which goes to show how much the coaches at LCS truly care about their athletes.”
