Our faculty and staff know her as Mary, and our students know her as Mrs. Fairchild. And she may only be recognized by our parents with the title “Registrar” attached to her name. Mary Fairchild is a part of the Enrollment Team and works in the Admissions Office here at LCS. So what is a registrar?
Webster defines a registrar as "a school officer who is in charge of registering students and keeping academic records."
Mrs. Fairchild does indeed direct the admissions process for new LCS applicants and maintains records throughout the enrollment process. But drop in on her in the Admissions Office any day of the week and you will find she does a multitude of other things for our school. She oversees the Admissions Office staff, assists our administrators, handles re-enrollment and student withdrawals, maintains the school data base system, runs the postage machine, collects faxes, makes a lot of phone calls, schedules admissions interviews, keeps the teacher workroom tidy, wrestles with the notorious but necessary copy machine . . . and the list goes on.
That is Mrs. Fairchild the Registrar, but what about Mary Fairchild the non-registrar? We thought you might like to get to know her a little better since she is such a valued and amazing part of our LCS staff. Here are some little known facts about our Mary:
She was born in Columbus, Kansas.
Her favorite vacation spot is any place she hasn’t been before.
If she could be any animal she would be a hedgehog.
Her favorite junk food is chocolate (wait, that’s not junk food – it’s good for you!).
She wears a size 6 ½ shoe.
Her favorite place to shop is Kirklands, TJ Maxx and Publix.
If she could only eat one thing the rest of her life it would be chicken enchiladas.
Her favorite class in school was recess.
When she grows up she would like to be an interior designer.
Her favorite thing about her job at LCS is the people she works with.
Next time you are on campus, please stop by the Admissions Office and say hello to Mrs. Mary Fairchild and thank her for all that she does to make LCS a wonderful place for our faculty, staff, students and parents. (Remember – she likes chocolate!) We appreciate you Mary!
