I recently attended a workshop in Wilmington, Delaware, for independent schools admissions professionals. I was one of 15 attendees, with schools represented from New York to California. And even though there was only one other attendee from a faith-based school, as I spent time with the rest of these people, I grew to appreciate all of the common ground we shared in the world of school admissions. Everyone is feeling the pinch of the tightening economy and its effects on school enrollment. And everyone is seeking creative ways to spread the word about what makes their school a great choice for families and their children. If you had to guess how many guests on our campus it takes to produce one new student enrollee, what would you estimate? Well, last year we had 653 inquiries here at LCS. An inquiry is someone who contacts us via phone call, email or an online request for information about our school. Of the 653 inquiries, approximately 250 came for a tour of our campus. And of the 250 tours, we had 186 new students enroll at the beginning of the school year. So what does that tell us? It takes a lot of inquiries to generate a moderate number of guests and then a smaller number of enrollees.
So what does that mean for us here at LCS?
It means that we need your help! Do you think LCS is a great choice for families in the Lakeland area? I certainly do. And like anything else that I love and enjoy, I want to tell others about it. Most of our inquirers tell us that they learned about our school from a friend, a neighbor, a coworker or from someone at their church. That means you are our best resource to spread the word about what a great place LCS is and about the valuable role it has played in the lives of your children.
God has blessed us with an amazing school community - a place where our children are loved, nurtured, offered excellent academics and encouraged in their faith in Jesus Christ. Will you help us by making the effort to be purposeful in your conversations with friends, neighbors and coworkers about what LCS means to you?
It will be exciting to see our inquiries increase and therefore the opportunity for the influence of our school’s mission of “educating students in the light of God’s Word” to spread in our community.
