Lakeland Christian School
One of the core values of LCS is the belief that we are partnering with parents in the Christian education of their children. We believe that mutual respect, communication and involvement by all partners is essential for success of our mission.LCS is a school. We believe that being a Christian school and being a top-flight academic institution should not be mutually exclusive. On the contrary, we take the mandate of Colossians 3:23 that calls us to strive to be the best. We provide a variety of rigorous, engaging, academic and co-curricular activities that enable students to identify and express the full range of their unique gifts and abilities.Eight LCS teams competed in the Regional Odyssey of the Mind tournament hosted by Dunedin Highland Middle School in February. Three of these teams placed in the Top Five. “Team Wiechmann” (coached by Fred Wiechmann) was made up of Caydon Wilson, Porter Stiles, Easton Durdin, Kase Gibson, Ava Wetherington, Kiana Joseph and Hailey Hitchcock, and placed second in the “Ready, Set, Balsa, Build!” category. “Team Vincent” (coached by Christopher Vincent) was comprised of Chase Durrance, Tanner Billach, Asher McMahan, Jeremias DeJesus, Terry Hardy, Nicole Waddell and Wynn Vincent. They finished third in the same category. The two teams had to design, build and test a structure made of only balsa wood and glue. It needed to balance and support as much weight as possible. Both of these teams competed at the State Odyssey of the Mind Tournament held at the University of Central Florida in April.
