It’s the third close match in a row that the Vikings have won. They beat Windermere Prep in penalty kicks in the district semifinal, and Lake Placid 1-0 in the district championship.
LAKELAND – Lakeland Christian’s boys soccer team just keeps finding ways to win. The Vikings pulled out a 2-1 win over Lake Placid in overtime Wednesday night in the Class 3A regional quarterfinals on its home field.
The game winner Wednesday night came with 3:49 left in the second overtime period from Rally Fox off a throw-in by J.B. Tucker.
“I saw the defenders slacking, so I asked J.B. for the ball. I know J.B. can throw it far,” Fox said. “He threw it in and I got it done.”
It’s the third close match in a row that the Vikings have won. They beat Windermere Prep in penalty kicks in the district semifinal and followed that up with a 1-0 win over Lake Placid in the district championship game last week.
“We fight so hard and we deserve all the credit,” Fox said. “We’re doing everything together, we pray together, we do devotions together. We’re just a great team.”
