Seven RISE Researchers Headed to State Science & Engineering Fair

Members of the RISE Institute presented their research at the Polk Regional Science & Engineering Fair on Thursday, February 16.  Several students earned high marks, and seven researchers will take their projects to the State competition later this spring. 

Congratulations to the following students: 

1st place and bids to the Florida State Science and Engineering Fair:

  • 6th grader Connor McLaughlin - Plant Science
  • 7th grader Breanna Newberg - Robotics and Intelligent Machines
  • 7th grader Peyton Miller - Behavioral and Social Science
  • 7th grader Cheney Curls - Physics
  • 11th graders Victoria Benson and Taylor O'Byrne - Animal Science
  • 12th grader Julia Canady - Plant Science

2nd place:

  • 10th grader Trey Russell - Biomedical and Health Science

3rd place:

  • 10th graders Tom Bowers, Rachel DiMezza, and Evan McLoughlin - Engineering 
  • 8th grader Caleb DeBoer - Physics
