Staff Positions

After School Supervision Worker

General Description:   Provides after school supervision for students in K4 through fifth grade from 2:30 – 6:30 p.m. on school days.  The adult worker will assist the Supervision Director with the daily operations of the program. 
 
Qualifications:

  • Be a born-again believer who demonstrates commitment to Christian education
  • Be in agreement with the Lakeland Christian School Statement of Faith and staff qualifications
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent
  • A background in education and/or college course in recreation, education (either completed or in progress) is preferred but not required.
  • Child care work experience is preferred but not required.
           

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Uphold and ensure compliance of all LCS policies and procedures
  • Assist the director in providing a safe, healthy environment in the after school program
  • Maintain all student attendance records
  • Assist in directing play activities and homework time as directed by the Supervision Director
  • Assist in enforcing safety rules
  • Communicate with the Supervision Director involving difficult child behavior
  • Assist with snack time
  • Help or make sure to clean up and leave rooms ready for the next day.
  • In addition, other duties may be required as directed by the Supervision Director

  • Must possess a positive attitude and work well with others. 
  • Serve as a role model to participants in the program
  • Create an enriching, fun, and safe environment 
     

Physical Demands:

  • Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking

  • Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching
  • Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull medium weights, up to 25 pounds

Maintenance Worker

General Description:  Responsible for providing school maintenance services as needed or assigned.  Assists with a variety of general maintenance activities.

Qualifications:
        1.    Be a born-again believer who demonstrates commitment to Christian education
        2.    Be in agreement with the Lakeland Christian School Statement of Faith and staff qualifications
        3.    High School Diploma or equivalent.
        4.    Be in good physical health.
        5.    Must be reliable.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Uphold and ensure compliance of all LCS policies and procedures
  2. Assist in the construction, installation, moving of and maintenance of roofs, furniture, playground equipment, cabinets, shelving and miscellaneous classroom items.
  3. Transports a variety of tools, equipment and supplies required at job site.
  4. In addition, other duties and projects that may be required as directed by Facilities Manager.
  5. Use any other skills God may have given you to enhance our maintenance here at LCS.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Some knowledge of maintenance and repair work.
  2. Knowledge of proper safety techniques and procedures.
  3. Skill in the operation of a variety of hand tools.
  4. Ability to understand and carry out routine oral and written instructions.
  5. Must possess a positive attitude and work well with others
  6. Must be organized and manage time well.  

Physical Demands:

  1. Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, reaching and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing
  2. Frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling, balance.
  3. Frequent standing, walking, use of hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls.
  4. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  5. Ability to work in some temperature extremes.

Maintenance/Day Porter

General Description:  Responsible for maintaining a clean working environment inside the school and on the grounds of the school to which he/she is assigned.  

Qualifications:

        3.    High School Diploma or equivalent.
        4.    Be in good physical health.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Uphold and ensure compliance of all LCS policies and procedures
  2. Respond to immediate cleaning and sanitizing requirements during the school day.
  3. Cleans and sanitizes assigned areas daily before and after they are occupied.
  4. Sweep, mop and polish floors.
  5. Assists in the cafeteria, cleaning and emptying trash as needed.
  6. Keeps the building and grounds, including sidewalks, driveways, parking lot and playground areas free from trash and litter.
  7. Assists in light maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, replacing HVAC filters conducting routine building inspections.
  8. Knows and follow all safety rules and proper procedures associated with the responsibilities of the job.
  9. In addition, other duties and projects that may be required as directed by Facilities Manager.
  10. Use any other skills God may have given you to enhance our maintenance here at LCS.

Bus Drivers (Part Time)

General Description: Responsible for transporting students and teachers to and from school related events while maintaining a safe environment.

Qualifications:

  • Be a born-again believer who demonstrates commitment to Christian education
  • Be in agreement with the Lakeland Christian School Statement of Faith and staff qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • 1 + years’ experience driving a school bus (training provided for the right candidate)
  • Current, valid state of Florida Class A or B commercial Driver’s License required with airbrake knowledge test; and P (passenger) and S (school bus) endorsements required.
  • No Type A Violations in the past five years
  • No more than three Type B Violations in the past three years
  • No more than two at-fault accidents the past three years
  • Must be reliable

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Uphold and ensure compliance of all LCS policies and procedures.
Transport students for school activities in accordance with the schools vehicle safety program in required time schedules.
Assist in promoting the safety, health, and comfort of students while on bus.
Obey all traffic laws.
Assist students with getting on and off the bus when required.
Observe and report safety hazards and bus maintenance or repair needs to the Facilities Manager.
In addition, other duties that may be required as directed by Facilities Manager.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of the Florida Motor Vehicle Code as applied to the operation of vehicles used in the transport of school children.
Knowledge of safe driving practices.
Ability to read and write at a level necessary to successfully perform the required duties
Ability to understand and carry out routine oral and written instructions.
Ability to drive a school bus safely and efficiently.
Ability to exercise good judgment and extreme caution while driving.

Food Service Substitute

General Description:  In the absence of a full time Food Service employee, the Food Service Substitute provides food service assistance and direct services to students.
Qualifications:
          1.    Be a born-again believer, maintaining a testimony that is above reproach.
          2.    Be in agreement with the Lakeland Christian School Statement of Faith and staff qualifications.
          3.    High School Diploma or equivalent
          4.    Knowledge of food preparation and sanitation procedures.
          5.    Be able to work in a team environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Uphold and ensure compliance of all LCS policies and procedures.
  2. Maintain a professional appearance.
  3. Will perform work assigned as needed that day, duties may include:  serving meals to students, assisting in Ala Carte, washing dishes, overall clean up in dining area and any other duties required by Food Service Manager.

Physical Demands:

Substitute Positions

Substitute Teacher Positions

Substitute teachers play an important role at Lakeland Christian School. When a teacher is ill or away from his/her students due to a professional obligation elsewhere, it is imperative that the school make every effort to keep instruction moving forward in spite of the teacher’s absence. Substitute Teacher Applications are processed throughout the school year when there is a need to add to the current pool of available substitutes. A processing fee of $75 is required to cover the cost of background screening and drug testing, which are required for employment.         1.    The substitute teacher instructs students and facilitates their learning in the absence of the regular teacher.
        2.    Provides classroom instruction to students as outlined in lesson plans.
        3.    Creates a classroom that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of students.
        4.    Maintains a safe and orderly environment.
        5.    Maintains established routine of the school and classroom procedures in which assigned.
        6.    Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
        7.    Maintains reasonable rules of conduct which encourage self-discipline and responsibility.
        8.    Communicates effectively with parents when needed.
        9.    Completes other duties as assigned.
