Psalm 104:33: “I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.”

The LCS Choral program trains singers to pursue excellence and develop a life-long passion that prompts them to continue to use their gifts in service to the Lord in their churches and communities as well as in future careers. Through the LCS choral program, students develop and refine performance techniques, vocal tone, music literacy and appreciation while developing an understanding of the role of music in the life of the believer and the impact of music upon the listener.

Our Choral program includes:

  • Jr. Viking Voices – open to all 4th-5th grade students
  • Sixth Grade Choir – open to all 6th grade students
  • Junior High Choir – open to all 7th-8th grade students
  • Concert Choir – open to all High School students
  • Chamber Ensemble – High School Honors level Ensemble, members chosen by audition

All LCS choirs perform in school-sponsored events such as the Fall Fanfare, Christmas musical and Spring concert. Choirs also perform for athletic and advancement events, and many of our singers will be found leading worship in school chapels and their own local churches.

Under the direction of Mrs. Wendy Carl, LCS Upper School Choirs are actively involved in the Florida Vocal Association, District 12. Students annually perform in District and State level Solo & Ensemble Festival and Music Performance Assessments, earning consistent Superior ratings since 2009.  Our students also sing in the Polk All-County Chorus and Florida All-State Choruses, with well over 30 students each year earning these honors.

Community outreach performances are a significant part of our mission in the greater Lakeland community, with performances and ministries to various nursing homes and community groups such as the Rotary Club. Concert Choir and Chamber Ensemble traditionally perform at such events as Epcot’s Candlelight Processional.
