Lakeland Christian SchoolOne of the core values of LCS is the belief that we are partnering with parents in the Christian education of their children. We believe that mutual respect, communication and involvement by all partners is essential for success of our mission.LCS is a school. We believe that being a Christian school and being a top-flight academic institution should not be mutually exclusive. On the contrary, we take the mandate of Colossians 3:23 that calls us to strive to be the best. We provide a variety of rigorous, engaging, academic and co-curricular activities that enable students to identify and express the full range of their unique gifts and abilities.
The Lakeland Christian School Drama Department presents two dramatic productions during each school year—a fall musical and a non-musical play.
Usually held during the last week of September, the fall musical involves students in grades three through twelve. The number of cast members chosen to participate depends on the production. Students spend seven weeks rehearsing the musical, working with voice teachers, drama coaches and choreographers.
In addition to the four general public performances, a number of cast members present selected scenes at local retirement homes and at the Fine Arts Festival.
Past productions have included The Music Man, Annie, Fiddler on the Roof, Anne with an ‘E,’ Cinderella, The Sound of Music, Beauty & the Beast, Seussical the Musical and The Wizard of Oz.
High school students at Lakeland Christian School may also audition for a role in the spring play. Students who participate in this production, whose proceeds help with the cost of the annual senior missions trip, rehearse for six weeks prior to giving three performances to the general public.
Students are coached on dramatic techniques such as breathing, diction, expression, blocking, characterization and presentation. Cast size is dependent on the chosen production.
Past plays have included The Little Princess, Meet Me in St. Louis, Emma, It Happens Every Summer, Father Knows Best, The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Cheaper by the Dozen and Get Smart.
